One Quick Tip on Choosing Your Clients

Have you ever been in that position where someone wanted to hire you, you took the job —and regretted it every minute there after?

Yup. Me, too.

One of the things that Misty and I have decided over our years of working together is that we love, love LOVE working with nice people. We love kind people. We are inspired to see those people succeed, to thrive, and to soar beyond their dreams.  We want to help them do all of that.

As a business owner, it’s a beautiful thought.  And sometimes, a tough place to hold the line.  The idea of making money right now can take over and suddenly, you’re working, but you’re working with clients who believe less in what you offer and more in terms of how much they can get out of you for your price.

So this post is just a reminder:

When you work for yourself, you get to choose your clients.

You get to select where you spend your time and who you spend it on.

If you’ve studied your ideal customer and built a list of traits of who that is, put nice or kind at the top of the list.  Make that a priority.

You’ll know when you talk to potential clients if they fit the bill.  You’ll feel it in your gut. You’ll feel it when you put the phone down or click send on that email reply.  Do you feel good? Do you feel anxious? Don’t underestimate your gut reactions.

Choose the people you most want to help succeed. Your life will be much richer for it.
